From AUD $1,050.00
  • Duration: 3 Days (approx.)
  • Location: Katoomba, NSW

This weekend of Wine and Waterfalls is designed to be a relaxing weekend seeing some of the great sights of the Blue Mountains as well as indulging in two different tastings of local and Central West Tablelands wines. We will be staying at the sublimely charming Kurrara Historic Guest House in Katoomba, which is a stone's throw away from two beautiful walks (maximum two hours each walk) that overlook the Katoomba Falls, Katoomba Cascades, Bridal Veil Falls and Leura Cascades.

For those who are up for a more adventurous walk, there will be an opportunity to go on a 3 hour walk to see the beautiful Empress Falls, Den Fenella and the mighty Wentworth Falls. All the walks, even the shorter ones, have sections of steps and uneven ground (with railings to hold on to for most sections).

The weekend includes:

  • 2 nights accommodation at Kurrara Historic Guest House
  • 2 breakfasts
  • 2 lunches (including the lunch at the winery)
  • In house wine tasting of 5 Central West Tablelands wines
  • Visit to Dryridge Estate in the Megalong Valley for wine tasting and Plougman's Lunch
  • 2 or 3 guided bushwalks
  • Transport to and from walks and the winery
  • Goody bag

The itinerary for the weekend is (subject to minor alterations):

Friday

5.00 PM Meet at Kurrara Guest House in Katoomba. What better way to start the weekend than with an in house wine tasting, hosted by a local wine enthusiast! You will try 5 different wines from the nearby Central Tablelands region, west of the Blue Mountains.

After the wine tasting is over, we will be happy to drop you off in the main street of Katoomba or Leura so you can dine out at a restaurant of your choice. There are also two restaurants close to Kurrara Guest House (the Guest House is only a 10-15 minute walk from the main street of Katoomba, so you can easily walk or catch a taxi back after dinner).

Saturday

9.30 AM We will collect you from the Guest House and drive the short distance to the start point of a stunning walk. This walk takes us down into the beautiful upper section of the Furber steps, where we be able to take a side trail to an awesome location, half way down the gigantic Katoomba Falls. Once we've had a little while at this spot, we'll head back up the steps and see the same Katoomba Falls from above. A short board walk takes us to the ever popular Katoomba Cascades.

11.00 AM At the end of the walk we will be collected and briefly return to the Guest House, to freshen up and perhaps have a quick cup of tea or coffee.

11.30 AM We will be taken by minivan to the gorgeous Dryridge Estate in the Megalong Valley - about a 30 to 40 minute drive. With it's spectacular location, Dryridge Estate is the perfect place to test out a variety of wines and enjoy a Ploughman's lunch or cheese plate. You will be welcome to purchase some wines here, if any of them take your fancy!

2.00 PM We will drive you back to Kurrara Guest House for a well earned rest. The afternoon and dinner are at your leisure. (If you would like to go on another bush walk, there is an option to go on a 2-3 hour walk visiting the sublime Empress Falls, Den Fenella (a hidden waterway), and the epic Wentworth Falls themselves).

Sunday

09.30 Check out of your room and store your luggage in your car (or our vehicle, if you came by train). This morning we walk straight from the Guest House to a nearby beautiful loop walk. This walk plunges down into the otherworldly Fern Bower until we reach the bottom of the Bridal Veil Falls. This is a sensational location that you are sure to remember, we have had many guests contact us later to ask us how to get there when they've come back to the Mountains with friends or family. There is a short but steep section back up to the top, but quickly overcome. From here, we pass over the top of the Bridal Veil Falls and wander up along the serene Leura Cascades.

11.30 Our walk takes us to our lunch spot - a very trendy tapas bar with great views - a fantastic way to end our weekend appreciating wine and waterfalls! (Please note, only one alcoholic drink is included at the Sunday lunch).

This is a small group weekend with a maximum of 10 people.
